Acupuncture and FAQ's

Originating in China 2000 years ago, Acupuncture is becoming increasingly popular in Western countries. An integrated style of acupuncture encompassing both the Traditional and Five Element approach helps to bring about balance in the body's energy by helping relieve the symptoms causing distress as well as the underlying source of these symptoms, which must be acknowledged for healing to take place.

Also as an effective preventative measure, Acupuncture has been shown to help the body maintain good health and is based on a theory of channels, which serve as pathways for Qi energy. Acupuncture points along these channels are stimulated by fine needles to bring about therapeutic effects.

Physical, emotional, mental and spiritual symptoms and their root cause may all be helped with acupuncture.

Your First Treatment will include an initial consultation which allows me to ascertian your health and lifestyle both past and present and your main reason for choosing acupuncture.

I will then take your blood pressure, take your pulse in three positions on your wrists and look at your tongue, to assist me with my diagnosis. Usually it is possible to begin treatment in this first session.

For any patients that may be anxious about needles I always suggest my 20 minute free consultation so as they can talk about any issues without any pressure to begin treatment. I appreciate that the idea of needles can be a little daunting for some people. I will always work very gently and slowly in such circumstances so that new clients can feel as much at ease as possible and so benefit from the calming benefits of the therapy.

Often I will give advice - where appropriate on diet and lifestyle, as these factors can be very important to maintaining good heatlth.

Medication
If you are taking any prescribed medicines, please bring details with you to your first appointment.

Before/After Treatment
When coming for treatment, make sure that you have had something to eat and drink in the hours before your treatment. After treatment, please be aware that you may feel very relaxed or even tired.

How many treatments will I need?
This can be difficult to predict, as each person will have an individual response to treatment depending on how long thay have had their condition and the original cause. I usually advise patients to have from between 4 - 6 treatments initially and the outcome of treatment will determine how we progress. Very often patients notice a difference in their condition after one or two treatments.

How much will it cost?
First appointment including consultation ( 1 1/2 hours approx) £ 45.00
Subsequent appointments £35.00
(Payment by cash or cheque with guarantee card)

If you need to cancel or change your appointment time, please give a minimum of 24 hours notice, or a cancellation fee will be charged.

Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture.
The pinciple of Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture is that, using the Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts, it rebalances the body's motivating energy, Qi. After a series of treatments, the Qi moves more smoothly through a series of channels beneath the skin.

As we mature, the quantity of Qi and blood in the skin and underlying facial muscles begins to decrease causing a loss of nourishment and support.

Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture nourishes the skin helping to improve the appearance and the overall skin tone.
